Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services

The Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) program offers specialized support and interventions for students with varying degrees of hearing loss who can thrive in a mainstream educational setting. Credentialed teachers collaborate with audiologists, parents, school staff, and other professionals to address the needs of deaf or hard-of-hearing students. They also support faculty and staff through development activities, staff conferences, co-teaching, and involvement in IEP teams.

DHH services extend to infants, preschoolers, and school-age children with hearing loss and their families. The team, which includes Teachers, Deaf Mentors, and Interpreters, serves students across Shasta County’s school districts.
The program helps local school districts identify and assess students with hearing loss, providing direct instruction, resources, and equipment tailored to meet the unique needs of eligible students. Additionally, the DHH program offers in-class transcription services, with certified Braille specialists providing curriculum materials in the appropriate reading medium.
