Visual Impairment

The purpose of the Visually Impaired Program is to enable children who are blind or partially sighted to remain in their home communities and comprehensive school sites to receive an education with their peers.

The Vision Impairment program provides services, supports, and intervention strategies for infants, and preschoolers, and school age students with visual impairments and their families. Team members include Teachers, Braillists, and Orientation and Mobility Specialists. Services are available for students who reside in any school district in Shasta County.

The Vision Impairment program includes orientation and mobility training - instruction in safe, efficient, independent travel skills for navigating the school and community environments.
